Laila, but with some stamping!

My mom is visiting for the new few weeks and helping me do a few projects and LOTS of shopping!   Today we helped out my friend by putting together the favors for my shower.  I still can't believe it's next weekend.  I'm a bit nervous that nobody is going to show up, but if they don't, there's loads of chocolate in these guys.  I can drown my sorrows until I get sick of Hershey Miniatures!  They do feature some retiring products, the pillow box die and Fox & Friends.   I'm sure going to miss both of those, but I'm sure there will be something cute in the new catalog that I'll love too!

Before I sign off for the night, I wanted to get this off my chest. There's been quite a bit of uproar this week among demos that makes me sad.   After losing Eli, stamping kept me sane and truthfully, it probably kept me alive.   Signing up as a demonstrator allowed me to make some amazing friends from all over the world.   I enjoy chats with my friend Kathy from Australia, text Mindy and Marla, and email with all my design team buddies frequently.   I don't have a biological sister, but Stampin' Up! has given me lots of them that all share my love of creating.   While stamps and brads come and go, those relationships are enduring and make my life much happier.
I'm not one to look on the positive normally, but I've learned what things are worth getting upset over and retiring supplies are pretty low on my list.  I know the economy is tough as I'm on a budget myself.   I also know that I buy way more than I need and the amount of retiring products that I have is a sign that I need to be more careful with my purchases and really use what I buy and only buy what I love.   Sometimes the lessons we need to learn in life come in a way that knocks the wind out of us, but we just have to rest for a minute and keep on trucking.

  1. Very well said Rita! I agree with you entirely. It is the sharing and friendships made that make Stampin Up so wonderful.

  2. OH my goodness how cute did these favors come out!! I love that color combo!

I was a bit shocked when I saw the list but realized why most stuff was on there and really it's not anything to get worked up over at all. They are only changing a few things and like they say as demos we don't need to replace all that stuff.. Some just feel they HAVE too which really makes no sense.. use what ya got till it runs out or goes bad then get another..lol

I just did a huge craft room purge and I can say it felt wonderful to get rid of the excess I had.. Less is More if you ask me.

  3. Well said Rita - I totally agree. I love the products (no matter what products they retire) and I enjoy the friendships I've made. If it wasn't for SU then I wouldn't have this.

  4. Love the favors Rita, those are adorable!!

Holly posted on my Facebook about the retiring accessories and I have to say, we both kinda freaked and then like Holly said, we became rational and realized it wasnt that big of a deal. We'll get the new ink and such gradually and as my husband pointed out, I have over 300 SU sets, most retired, do I really need a lot of new stuff? ROFL

  5. Amen, Sister. I am with you all the way in recognizing that "things" are not what makes a life. Stamping gave me a whole new perspective too. Love your work and blog. Thanks! Nancy

  6. You said it right! Love your work, ideas, and blog. Stamping (SU but not a demo) gave me a new lease on my life -- the creativity outlet. Thanks. Nancy B

  7. Well said Rita. There are far more important things to be worrying over than retiring stamps and accessories.

That being said, these favors are so adorable. I'm sure you'll have loads of guests at your shower and you won't have to eat nearly as many of these as you think!!

  8. That's so true Rita! Nobody says we can't use the retired products. There are very few of the retiring stamps that will go on sale to my customers. Most of them are keepers. My advice to those that are upset is to stamp, stamp, stamp. It's a great stress reliever. I'll bet you don't have any chocolate left after your shower, Rita. You'll probably have a huge crowd.
