Dumpster Fire 2020

Hi friends! I have been stamping away this month, but I am so behind on posting!!  I have made a card every day this month thanks to the support of awesome friends. It's so nice to have someone to chat with as you stamp. :) I got this cute? dumpster fire stamp set from Kindred Stamps and it seemed pretty appropriate for this year. Whew. lol I was thinking about even making some Christmas cards with it. Stay tuned for that. Can you believe it's December?? Yikes.

It's still warm here in Texas, so we're seeing our lovely pollinators still yet. Last week I found this bee and it was lethargic and not moving. Laila and I gave it some water and it eventually perked up and flew. It was cool to be able to take some photos of it up close while it was so calm. It even walked on my hand for a bit as it gaining strength.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and avoid any dumpster fires. Hugs.

Live Long and Stamp

Last card for the Kindred Wacky Holidays gingerbread set. I haven't watched this show, so this was a challenging stamp to use. I hope it fits with the character well enough. lol I'm a nerd, but I don't do much sci fi. :)

I am hoping to get in a routine where I can find time to stamp a bit more. I keep trying while Jason's home, but still get interrupted a lot. I think I need to put a lock on my door!

I wanted to get Laila a little something as we finished up our Russia study, so I found these nesting dolls on eBay. Below is our little mailboxes and letter writing station. I want Laila to work on writing, but I have to kinda trick her. lol

Magical Gingerbread

Hey! Still alive here. It's been a crazy month...  First I wanted to share a card with you from the end of last year. I did make a new card today, I wanted to go ahead and share a couple of older ones this week just so that I don't forget. This one uses another image from the Kindred Stamps Wacky Holiday set for National Gingerbread Day. Isn't he cute??

Now the big news...

We are now homeschoolers. Yikes, right???  Laila was still having a lot of issues with school and had started asking every night and morning not to go. We decided to try this for a while and see how it goes. We had a nice first week and now I think I have a plan going that we will use. I just have to get all my materials ready and wait on a few more supplies to arrive. We've been doing okay so far though. Our first week we did two science experiments, finished our study of Russia, had two poetry tea times, did a few outings, and just enjoyed ourselves.

Wish us luck!!  :) I hope we find a good routine soon. I'm working on a visual schedule to help with that. She liked having one at home before and I think it will work out great.

Freshly Popped Sketches?

You guys! I am a mess. I have been trying to join in with the ladies at Freshly Made Sketches again to see if maybe I could get myself together enough to be back on the team. Yeah well.. I made my card on time, but did I get my blog post done? NOPE! lol Laila was home sick on Tuesday and then yesterday I had a root canal, so here we are...  Better late than never though, right??? Even better, this is the Kindred Stamps Wacky Holiday set for this month celebrating National Popcorn Day. Since it isn't until January 19th, I might can crank out a few cards to send! Maybe..  Jen T made our sketch this week and I think you should be like me and try to play along!

Now I'm off to find a snack. I started Weight Watchers and it's been fun figuring out foods. I did lose 5 pounds my first week, so at least I know I can do it! The anniversary of Eli's passing is coming up on the 14th, so I'm trying to be gentle with myself since I am a total emotional eater. At the same time, this is important for my health, so I'm also trying to stick to good choices with a few treats here and there. I mean Santa DID leave me some chocolate...  :)

Kindred Chewy Gingerbread

I totally forgot to post the cards I did make in December. I got a cute set for National Gingerbread Day from Kindred Stamps and it has the most adorable images. I'll share Chewy with you first. He's hard to color!!  I didn't do him justice, but had fun. Now I'm ahead on my cards for that holiday for this year. lol Those funky scissors from Stampin' Up! came in handy!

Laila loves my brother so much. He doesn't have kids, but he's so good with her. We went to visit him at work one day when we were in Kentucky and she just plopped herself down ready to learn what all about what he was doing. She couldn't wait for him to get off work so that he could come by mom's and visit before he went home. I love them together. She cried so much when they had to say goodbye. I wish he lived closer.

I'm off to set up our new board game. I just finished my daily walk not long ago and got my dishes washed up. Tomorrow is a big day of cleaning out kitchen cabinets and drawers! Declutter and organize 2019!

Thankful for You

Hi everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a nice dinner with just the three of us. I am trying to keep my stress level down this year for the holidays, so it was a simplified dinner and we took a few shortcuts like purchasing a smoked turkey. So much easier. Now we just need to do that for Christmas. :)  I made this card using the cute Happy Trails stamp set from Kindred Stamps. I love the browns and greens. I want to enter in two challenges, DL.ART Thankful Thursday and Crafter's Castle Monthly Challenge.

I am off to play a board game with my family. Laila doesn't have school tomorrow and then starts her new school on Tuesday. I'm nervous about it, especially since they haven't sent us any info. :/  She got her hair cut last week and it is so cute. Today she had to try on glasses because I think she feels left out that she's the only member of the family without them. She looks adorable of course. :)

Have a great week and thank you for taking time to look at my card. :)

Guacamole Day?

Happy Wednesday. We've made it through half the week. Kinda. lol I hope yours is going better than mine. I did take time to play with this cute new set from Kindred Stamps. They have a Wacky Holiday of the Month club you can join and this is September's set. September 16th is Guacamole Day, so that's this month's wacky holiday. Funny, right? lol I can't wait to mail out some cards for it. I used the current sketch, flipped, from Sketch Saturday and played along with Simon Says Stamp Stamp It challenge for STAMPtember.

I'm off to shower and get ready for my first library volunteer shift. I am now regretting signing up since Laila's back to having issues at school, but I'll deal with my embarrassment and go I guess. She decided to hide her medicine last week instead of taking it, so I think that might be the issue. We talked about it and she took it today, so fingers crossed. It's one that can take weeks to work, so I'm sure we are starting over. This child!

Art Teacher Thanks

I never have finished showing you guys the cards I made for Laila's teachers. This was the card I did for her art teacher. I'm not sure how much love the specials teachers get, so I tried to at least do Christmas and end of the year cards with a little gift. She had a lot of trouble in specials, so I figured it would be nice to thank them for their patience. lol

I love this set from Kindred Stamps. Every time I see it on my desk I want to turn on the show and watch him paint some happy trees. :)

She loves her birthday gift from Grammy and Papaw. :)  She's been outside so much since it came! It's so hot, so we have to make sure she's drinking her water.

I'm off to try out this Distress Resist Spray I just got in!  Fun!!!

Happy Trails

Hey guys! I hope everyone is doing well. It's been kinda busy and crazy here, so I haven't had time to post. I haven't been stamping much until this past week when I crazily decided to make cards for all the staff and teachers that Laila interacts with at school.  That sure kept me busy!!  This was the card I made for the technology teacher. I'm hoping she is old enough to remember The Oregon Trail. It was one of the first games I remember playing on a computer. (Yes, I'm old.) The stamps are from Kindred Stamps. The dies for the background are all Lawn Fawn.

Today is the last day of school for Laila. I'm thankful for that as it's been a rough year. I've had some talks with her principal over the past two weeks and it seems that our concerns about her teacher were also noticed by him and the assistant principal. He is thinking a lot about the right fit for her next year and seems positive that we'll find what works for her. I just hate seeing someone obviously dislike my girl to the point that she pretty much tells us that. :( So only 3 more hours of that and we move on to better things!!

I should have more cards to post over the next few days.  Take care!

Well Behaved Woman

Hey! Can you believe it's the last day of November? Are you ready for Christmas? We have almost finished up our shopping thank goodness. I can't deal with crowds, so I did all my stocking stuffer shopping yesterday before the stores are super crazy. Amazon is our favorite this time of year. :)

A few weeks ago I won this really cool set from Kindred Stamps that has a lot of our favorite villains. I decided to try a little coloring and tried to make my images into a card. I'm still struggling creatively, so it was nice to color and complete something.

Laila and I have both been sick. She missed two days of school this week, but is back now. The doctor said bronchitis, so we were thankful it wasn't the flu or strep throat. Her troubles at school are continuing, so we are working on that. More meetings next week. She did get a wonderful surprise last week from a friend that I met over the summer. She sent us this book all about Monarchs. It was written by a high school classmate of hers, so she had her autograph one for Laila. Wasn't that the sweetest?

Jason and Laila just got home, so I'm headed off to see her. :)
