Monday Inspiration from Prickley Pear
It's Monday. Yay? No? It's time for some Prickley Pear inspiration, so hopefully that makes it a little better. :) I went super simple with my card to show off these crazy birds. This weekend I felt like the one on the bottom, but my mom is coming tomorrow. I'm feeling like the purple one today! Shooting for the blue one tomorrow. lol

PPRS Inlaid Die Cut Tutorial
Today I want to share a tutorial for inlaid die cuts. If you mail a lot of cards, this can come in handy because it will decrease the bulk of your card while also creating a really cool look! You'll need at least one die, but you can layer multiples if you like.
Supplies:
Die Cut
Die Cutting Machine
Adhesive
Card stock
Stamps/Embellishments to finish the card
For this technique, you need to have an idea of what you want your finished card to look like so that you cut your paper correctly. I wanted to recreate a card I'd made before, so that part was quick for me. When you are starting from scratch, it might take a little longer. The first step here was to cut the die cut from the colored card stock and then cut my base and layer. I used watercolor paper for my second layer; with intricate dies like this beautiful Circular Pendant, the heavier paper seems to make this technique easier.
At this point I have my base, the watercolor paper layer with the die cut out, and the extra die cut that I did in the first step. I also have the little pieces left from cutting the die from the watercolor paper. You want to save those as you'll use them to fill back in.
And here's the result. The die cut is completely inlaid in the watercolor paper! Less bulk, less weight and kind of a wow!
I stamped and cut out one of the cute circles from Circle Sets-Sentiments and added a sentiment from that same set. A bit of ribbon and I have a cute, simple card that I can quickly mail off to a friend.
I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and I hope you'll give it a try.

Monday Inspiration from Prickley Pear
Monday again! How does that happen so much? lol I have a little Prickley Pear card to share with you today. I love this image so much and coudn't resist coloring it again. It's such a fun one to practice using my Copics. :) I kept the rest of the card simple so that the image remained the focus.
Stamps: HH0173 Boy with Airplane
I didn't get much stamping done over the weekend. My shoulder has been bugging me so I tried to take it easy and rest. It seems to feel a little better this morning, so I hope to get some crafty time in today. My mom will be coming to visit next week, so lots of cleaning and getting ready for that to fill the week as well.
Be sure to check out the blog for more inspiration today!

Monday Prickley Pear Inspiration
It's time for some Monday Inspiration from Prickley Pear! It's almost time for Easter (my favorite holiday), so I thought I'd showcase this gorgeous tulip stamp today. The sentiment is a part of the stamp, so it's so perfect for Easter cards. I was in a purple mood, so we'll say purple tulips equals Easter, okay? lol

Monday Inspiration from Prickley Pear
If you love to color, today's Monday inspiration from Prickely Pear is for you! I just love this cute image and it is so fun to color. My plan is to keep practicing and eventually give my birds more texture. It will be a great stamp to progress my coloring skills. :) I did love how this one turned out so much that I left my card simple to really highlight it.

We had such a great day on Saturday. I got these lovely roses and some Copics. Laila got a rose, a little box of candy, an Olaf, and the soundtrack from Frozen. She was one happy girl. :) We got a heart-shaped pizza for dinner and watched a movie. It was just nice and calm. I appreciate that these days. :)

Prickley Pear Blog Hop Day 3
It's the last day of the Prickley Pear new release blog hop! I hope you've enjoyed all the inspiration. Remember to hop through all three days and comment on the blogs for a chance to win this great prize!
I used the new Circle Pendant die for my card today and it's just lovely! It cut so easily and looks fabulous on the card. I also used the Circles Set - Sentiments stamp set that you see pictured. It pairs great with the die.
I used the inlaid die cut technique here and I'll be back this week with a tutorial on how I did that. Super easy, but gives a great look. I did pop up the circle on some dimensionals to give it a bit of depth.
I hope you enjoyed my card today. Now hop on over and see what Heidi has made to inspire you!

Isn't that a cool prize? I love that die! Now...on to my card! :)
Isn't this just the sweetest image? I love it so much! He was a blast to color, too. I kept the card simple because I wanted the image to be the focus. Another fabulous thing is that there's a smaller version of him as well. I love that so many of the images come in two sizes.

Monday Inspiration with Prickley Pear
It's Monday and time for a bit of inspiration with Prickley Pear! I am a big fan of dandelions, so I love this heart stamp that resembles one. I paired with a background made with distress ink and water and some black accents. Don't you pink and black together?

Be sure to check out the blog for more inspiration. Here's another more traditional valentine that I used it on as well. I'm never sure about pink and red together, but this designer paper is fun.

Prickley Pear Monday Inspiration
It was warm here last week, so I wanted to make a fun, bright card for my Prickley Pear inspiration. Aren't those little ducks sweet? I just love them. :) Very simple card, but the the yellow just makes me happy. The set this comes from has a lot of different images and shapes and coordinates with some lovely dies.

I paired it with some great paper that matches it and some little heart embellishments. I love when things go together like that. :)

Jason traded in our car for a new one this weekend and Laila loves it! She is a big fan of red cars, so she's happy that her daddy finally got a red one. lol (And note, she's still rear-facing. If you aren't aware of the benefits of extended rear-facing, I'd recommend reading up on it!)
Have a great week!

Prickley Pear Monday Inspiration
It's Monday, so time for some new inspiration from Prickley Pear! I wanted to switch away from Christmas for a bit, so I went with a favorite, vanilla, black, and the pop of a red flower. So stunning and so gorgeous! I got a darker red Copic marker for Christmas, so I was finally able to do a more true red and I love it!
Stamps/Dies: CLR002 Hibiscus, PPRS-D002 Hibiscus Die Set

Laila doesn't like me to take her picture much anymore, so I might not be sharing as much as before. She is in a weird stage of that and not liking strangers (to the point of screaming and clinging on to us for dear life). It's making it hard to have anyone over, but we'll make it through it. Going to the doctor this week will be an ordeal for sure though. Anyway, she came to snuggle with me on the bed the other day and had her two Hello Kitty purses, her Hello Kitty cup, and her hat. She's so silly.

Monday Inspiration with Prickley Pear
It's Monday, so time for some inspiration from Prickley Pear. I loved this sheet of designer paper that I found in my stash and decided to build my card about that. I love the blue and red together. It's another great combination that works for Christmas and many other occasions.
Stamps: Ellie, Christmas Good Will
Be sure to check out the blog for more inspiration!
I snapped this while Laila was napping over the weekend. She doesn't always want to nap, but her sleep has been a little off with the holidays and she's been falling asleep during her "quiet time" in her bed.

Watercolor Background Tutorial
Today I wanted to share a tutorial on three different ways to make a watercolored background. I am such a big fan of these and I think you will be too once you start making them.
Suppies:
Watercolor paper
Water
Distress Ink
Markers (not alcohol-based)
acrylic block
dye ink
paintbrush
Using the distress ink is super easy, especially if you have a Ranger silicone craft mat. Just swipe the ink pad on the mat, spray it with water, and lay your paper in it. You can use a few different inks to get a multicolored background as well, Just swipe the ink pads near one another on the mat and then spray with the water. This is what it will look like after; it will be much softer once it dries.
The second method is using reinkers. This one feels so very artsy to me. I am not a painter, but this gives me a chance to play one. Just drop a little ink on your mat, spray your paper with water, and then paint!
Finally, the last one uses markers and an acrylic block. Super easy. Just color on the block with the markers, spritz with water, and "stamp" it on your paper.
Here's a look at the three panels once they've dried. You can get many different looks depending on the colors and shades of inks/markers/reinkers that you choose. You are only limited by your imagination.
I ended up going with the first panel for my project because I wanted to cover it with vellum and it seemed to be the best choice for that. For my card I just embossed the gorgeous JJ0017 Believe stamp on the vellum and then layered it over my watercolored panel. I added some other blue and silver details and I am loving how it turned out.
I hope you'll give this a shot and come share a link to your project in the comments! I'd love to see them.

Monday Prickley Pear Inspiration
It's Monday and time for some new Prickley Pear inspiration! The weather has been so dreary here this week and I think that reflected itsself in the blues and grays of my card. This snowman is just so gorgeous. I love all the details of the trees, candles, snowflakes, etc. On my original image I colored all those in with their normal colors, but after looking at the sentiment "Winter is an etching" I decided to go with gray so that he looked more like a drawing. Hopefully that makes sense. It did to my tired brain. lol The background is a watercolor wash with some bokeh effects added, but I don't think those showed up very well. It gives the sky more of a winter feel for sure.
Stamps: JJ0029 Snow Globe Snowman, GG0090 Winter is an Etching
Be sure to go check out what all the other designers made this week over on the blog!
Laila has been so into Little People and trains lately so I had to pick up this toy for her. She has had so much fun with it over the past few days. I can't get over how into Christmas stuff she is this year! It's so much fun!
