Dynamic Dirty Cards

This week I'm trying to fit in some of the awesome Dare to Get Dirty challenges on Splitcoaststampers.   It's a fun set of challenges for people who are members of the Fan Club there.   I've been using that website since I first started making cards and LOVE it.  It's a great way to look at card samples sorted by the stamp sets you own!
Here's my card for the first challenge.  It was a tough one, but I kinda like how it turned out!

Stamps:  Papillon Potpourri, Butterfly Prints (retired)
Ink:  Staz On Black, Versamark
Paper:  Whisper White
Tools/Accessories:  Big Shot, Labels Collection Framelits, Stripes embossing folder, Elegant Butterfly punch, Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack, Heat Tool, Iridescent Ice embossing powder, Embossing Buddy, Simply Scored w/ diagonal insert, Basic Pearls
For my second card I combined two challenges, the second Dare to Get Dirty challenge with the colors from Dynamic Duos.   I was making this at midnight last night while my blueberry cheesecake bars (Pinterest recipe) were baking.  :)   It's a simple, but still gorgeous card I think. I love the new ink pads because it really gives some amazing coverage and color to the image!

Stamps:  Lovely as a Tree, Netting background
Ink:  Early Espresso
Paper: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Neutrals DSP stack

We had Laila's one month pictures made last week so I thought I'd share one of the sneak peeks we got to see.  Such a little cutie!

cQc140: Cheers!

colourQ is one of my favorite challenge blogs because for me it is just that, a challenge!   It always inspires me to try to use more than a couple of colors and a more clean-and-simple approach.  This week's challenge has some of my favorite colors, but I would never have thought to put them together!
Forgive the bad picture; I guess photography at 7am is not my forte.   :)    I got a new box of goodies from Stampin' Up! last night and was so excited to use my new Happy Hour set!   I don't like alcohol, but I love these fun glasses with all their accessories.  As a bonus, there are great sentiments to go along with them!    Thanks to my great customers, I was able to earn this set for free and I'm very thankful as the baby budget makes the stamping budget almost non-existent.   Totally worth the trade-off of course.  :)

Stamps:  Happy Hour
Ink:  Island Indigo, Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Lucky Limeade
Paper:  Island Indigo, Real Red, Whisper White
Tools/Accessories:   Simply Scored, Basic Rhinestones, Stamp-a-ma-jig

FMS27: Butterflies

Here we go again!  Time for another challenging sketch from Freshly Made Sketches!   Lesley totally threw me for a loop with this one.  I have a second card I started on my desk for this one because I wasn't sure the first one really worked.  Of course I got lazy and distracted, so it's still sitting there in pieces.   I'll try to finish it up and post it this week.   Here's the first one though:
I had some butterflies left over from our technique project at club, so I decided to put them to use on this card.  I thought they would work okay for the circular elements.   I tried to add a bit of dimension to them by curling up the wings a bit and added a solid punched one behind them.  To add some interest to the background, I used the diagonal plate for my Simply Scored board.   I'll admit that it isn't my favorite card and I could tell from Jason's reaction that it wasn't his either.  LOL   They all can't be winners, right?  :)

I hope you'll join us this week and show us just what this sketch can do!

FM43: Sketchy Fun

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :
  1. Make a project using the "Sketch".
  2. Or Make a project using "Something NEW in your stash". (Stamps, ribbon, pretty paper...anything!)
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project "using the Sketch & something NEW in your stash".
It's Friday, Friday, Friday!   Oh sorry.  I got stuck on the most annoying song ever.   Goodness.   Anyway, it IS Friday and time for a challenge from The Friday Mashup!   Kim has a fun sketch challenge for us this week!  The other part of the challenge is to use something NEW in your stash of stampin' goodies.   I just know you have something that's sitting there unloved, so that part should be easy!  :)

I went to bed on Wednesday night knowing that I had to make my card yesterday morning.  I guess my brain was processing the sketch all night because I had the idea for this card when I woke up!  Don't you love when that happens?   I couldn't remember the colors my brain picked, but I wanted to use Crumb Cake for some reason or other.   The new product was the Wisteria Wonder baker's twine and of course I had to use my new diagonal scoring plate!  :)

This is a very different card for me.   I love clean-and-simple, but to me they are the most difficult cards to create.   I like to challenge myself to try them sometimes but get frustrated with them pretty quickly.   My sweet friend Marla helped me via our iPhones yesterday so it was good to have a buddy to talk out the design with. I love my demo friends so much!  I hope you enjoy it and will come play along with us!

Stamps:  Fresh Vintage (SAB), Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink:  Versamark, Elegant Eggplant
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Very Vanilla, Neutrals DSP stack
Tools/Accessories:  Big Shot, Beautiful Butterflies die, Boho Blossoms punch, Simply Scored w/ Diagonal Plate, In Color Dotted brads, Wisteria Wonder baker's twine

FMS19: Roar!!

The fabulous Jen Mitchell has a great sketch for everyone this week at Freshly Made Sketches.   I love scallop borders, so I was all ready to jump in and get to stamping!    I hope you'll find some time to join us as well!

I had so much fun making my card.   I used some new products and a new-to-me stamp set.   I have always loved Wild About You and was thrilled when my former demonstrator gave me of box of things with it in there.   I think it is one of my favorite sets ever!   I paired it with my favorite die, Tasteful Trim, and a brand new product that will be available on March 1st, the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate!   I was lucky and won it at the Regional on Saturday!   Exciting, huh?  I hope you can see the scoring on the Baja Breeze card stock.   The Color Coach picked out the colors for me.  I wanted to use Island Indigo since it has been a while.  I love that color and I think I was trying to hoard it a bit.  :)

Be sure to stop by and check out all the fabulous cards by the design team!

Random Pictures

It has been a long, chaotic week with almost no time to stamp.     We decided to have wood flooring put down in our living room and what a headache!   It took 3 days, lots of dust, headaches, and frustration, but they are finally down and we are slowing getting everything put back in order.   (So pardon the out-of-place treadmill and box in the picture).    The kitties are also having to adjust; they are having a time trying to run across it!

Tonight is my second stamp club of the month and I'm so excited!   This will be our first meeting and I know it is going to be GREAT!    I pulled out my new Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps (available Oct 1st) and made some yummy shortbread cookies for one of our snacks.    Please don't judge the stamps by my cookies; I can bake the most delicious quick breads all day long, but I cannot get one single cookie to ever turn out!   Jason said he'd help me make another batch this weekend, so stay tuned for more pictures.

I am all set up and ready to go tonight.    I still have a few hours left before people arrive, so I think a hot tea and some Project Runway are in order.  :)

I posted two of our projects already, but here's the last one.   I wanted to demonstrate the awesome new Simply Scored, so we'll be making this cute Halloween 2-4-6-8 box.   Isn't he adorable?!
