FMS92: Send Me Soaring in In Colors

It's Wednesday and time for a new Freshly Made Sketches sketch!  This one comes Jen B and boy did she throw us a curve this week!  (ha ha, I know!)  My stamping struggles are still continuing, so my card this week is pretty blah.  I decided to use this sentiment and maybe I can send it to myself.  ;)

Stamps:  Send Me Soaring (retired)
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe
Paper:  Pistachio Pudding, Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe, In Colors DSP stack
Tools:  Big Shot, Cloudy Day embossing folder, circle punches
Accessories:  Pistachio Pudding Ruffled Stretch Trim, White Baker's Twine

My mom arrived today and she'll be staying two weeks with us!  I'm so excited.  She's already been laughing and having a great time with Miss Laila.   I still can't believe that she'll be one tomorrow.  Where has the past year gone?

The Friday Mashup is celebrating a huge milestone today.  100 challenges!  Isn't that exciting?   I was excited to get an email from Holly asking me to join them in celebrating.  After looking through all the previous challenges, I decided to do challenge #52 which was using kites and colorful twine.  I love baker's twine and I do miss using Send Me Soaring.  It's one of my favorite sets ever!

As I was making this I first used white was the background and it was just TOO white.  I tried to color in the sky but it looks pretty awful to say the least.   After a suggestion from my friend Marla, I tried Pool Party and coloring the clouds in and it worked perfectly!   I'm not sure the clouds should have went all the way down to the grass, but that's a whole other issue.  lol  I'm not sure what this card will be, but for now I'm thinking a very unusual graduation card.  :)

Stamps:  Send Me Soaring, Wishes Your Way
Ink:  White Craft, Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade
Paper:  Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White
Tools/Accessories:  Big Shot, Cloudy Days TIEF, Cat's Pamajas grass die, Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine, Basic Pearls, Sponge Dauber

I love my cute, silly girl.   The teething has been taking away her laughter and making her fussy, but Tylenol seems to bring her back to her happy self.  I am so ready for these teeth to be in!

Soaring in the Air

It's been a couple of days, but I finally have a new card for you!  This is for Lisa's 'Up in the Air' challenge for Hope You Can Cling To.  Here's her description:  Create a card with something that can be found UP in the air! Some simple examples are birds, a kite, balloons, etc. Be creative, but think of things that that are up are "IN" the air.  Of course I had to pull out my kites for this one!  It is one of my all-time favorite sets and I just love using it!   I also love using it with this color combination; this is the second card that I've made with them together in fact!  :)

Here's my little pink giraffe with her little pink giraffe.  She's been something else this week!   She's started "talking" so much more; she's turning into a little chatterbox.  She's been breaking out of her swaddle a lot and waking herself up which means less sleep for the whole house!   I can't believe she'll be 4 months old tomorrow.  The time is just flying by.   She's such a sweet baby and so happy most of the time.  She gets a bit upset about nap time, but other than that she's usually smiling and loving life.   We are so in love with her and feel so lucky to have her.

PP97 and SSCC1

I wanted to get one more card in today before my husband made it home from work.   Our fearless leader Holly at the Friday Mashup has a fun color challenge on her blog this week that I've been thinking about for a few days.   It seems like my brain takes longer to process colors and sketches lately so I have to think much longer for an idea to hit me!    It finally did this evening!   I even used the sketch from the Paper Players again for this one.  :)
I still don't own Sahara Sand, so I used Crumb Cake instead.   I think it works okay with the other colors.   I'm not sure what was going on with the lighting today, but I could not get a good picture that showed the true colors.   I think I ended up hitting too many buttons on Photoshop too so I might have even made it worse!   I hope you can get the idea though.  :)   I'm in denial that my lovely kites are retired. I love them and will keep them forever.

Stamps:  Send Me Soaring (retired)
Ink:  Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Wisteria Wonder
Paper:  Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White, Neutrals DSP stack
Tools/Accessories:  Big Shot, Scallop Circles #2 die, 3-inch circle die, Tasteful Trim die, Pool Party ruffled ribbon

Club Cards

I thought I'd share the cards we made at club last night.   I hope the ladies enjoyed them.  :)
I just had to demonstrate Send Me Soaring before the mini catalog ends this month.  It is one of my favorite sets and so perfect for this time of year!   I made over one of my Friday Mashup cards because I just loved the colors and design!
For our technique card, we used the Distressing Essentials kit and the Stained Mosaic technique.  I love the vintage look of this one.   Soft Suede works so perfectly with the Tea Stain ink from the kit!

Here's what I did yesterday.  Easter is one of my favorite holidays because I just love bunnies, baskets, and hiding eggs!    I couldn't resist putting together a little basket for Laila.   I'm pretty sure Jason thinks I've lost my mind, but I'm just SOOOO excited and love her so much already.

Finally, I wanted to mention that I did change the comment settings on my blog.   I had allowed anonymous commenting for a while, but someone left a hurtful comment the other night that really upset me and it is now off.   I hope from here on out that anyone who has any issue with me or my work will have the courage to email me so that I can at least defend myself.  To be accused of copying someone else's work, especially when it is untrue is very hurtful. I believe I know the particular card this person was referencing and it was made almost 4 months after mine.  After having my cards repeatedly copied with no credit and my photos even taken at one point, I'm very sensitive to this issue. I try so hard to always give credit back if I am inspired by another person's work.   As a human, I'm not perfect of course, but I do try my best.   Anyway, sorry to those who were able to comment before but won't be able to now.

FM52: Fan Favorite!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :
  1. Make a project using "Colorful Twine".
  2. Or Make a project featuring "Kites".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with " Kites and Colorful Twine".

This week at the Friday Mashup is the challenge from the fan favorite contest!   I love the challenge because it gave me an excuse to use two of my favorites, Send Me Soaring and baker's twine!

I used a combination from the awesome Color Coach for this one!   I loved that it had a blue for the sky and a green for the grass! Perfect, right?!   I just love this card!    My friend Marla helped me again on this one and I think it turned out great.  It's one of my favorites that I've made in a while actually.

I hope you'll find time to join us!  It's a super fun challenge whether you mash it up or not!

FMS25: The Reject

I think I promised to show the first card I made with this sketch last week and of course I forgot.  I'm going to blame that one on Laila and the pollen.  :)   I'm starting to think that I'll never wake up without congestion and/or a headache ever again.   Thank goodness there's that generic Tylenol Sinus at Target.   I'm not sure why we can't find the real stuff, but the knock-off seems to work okay for now.

Here's the mess.  I'm not sure why I didn't end up liking it, maybe too much of striped dsp?  Or too many bright colors?   The more I looked at it, the more I wanted to hide it.  :)    Maybe someone will enjoy it, we'll see.

FM47: Kissing!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :
  1. Make a project using the "Kissing Technique".
  2. Or Make a "Round" project.
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Round project featuring the Kissing Technique".

Didn't Holly pick the cutest graphic for her challenge this week?  I love it!   At The Friday Mashup, we are all about kissing this week!   Now you should have done a lot of real kissing last week on Valentine's Day, so perhaps you need a break this week?  Let those stamps do all the kissing!  :)   That's what I did.  (Sorry, sweetie!)

I didn't have a lot of solid image stamps to pick from, so I decided I should make another card with my favorite new set, Send Me Soaring!  My first attempts at kissing created some cool faux snakeskin kites, but I finally found some other stamps that worked better for more normal looking kites.  I know, I know...you want to see what snakeskin kites look like.  Maybe I'll put them on a card next week.   What fashionable diva wouldn't want a purple snakeskin kite birthday card, right?

Lots of stamping and lots of fun colors on this one!  I hope you enjoy it.  :)   Be sure to stop by the Friday Mashup blog and vote for the Fan Favorite challenge!

Stamps:  Send Me Soaring, Paisley Prints, Fresh Vintage, Dot Dot Dot
Ink:  Pool Party, Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade
Paper:  Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder, Baja Breeze, Welcome Neighbor DSP stack (retired), Whisper White
Tools/Accessories:  Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, circle punches, blender pen, paper snips

FMS23: Soaring Kites

Check out this sketch from the super talented Tui Nathan.   It's a fun week at Freshly Made Sketches for sure.  I hope you'll find time to join us and share your beautiful work with us.

My card was very much inspired by my sweet friend, Mindy.   She uses Calypso Coral quite a bit and I thought I'd try it as well.   I paired it with Poppy Parade and I do like the result.   I'll just say that I LOVE Send Me Soaring.   In fact, I've tried to talk all my demo friends into getting it ever since we used it at the Regional event last month.   It is just SO FUN!  Who doesn't love kites?  :)

Stamps: Send Me Soaring
Ink: Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade
Paper:  Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White, Hostess DSP stack (2011, retired)
Tools/Accessories:  Boho Blossoms punch, Itty Bitty Punch pack, blender pen, Brights brads

On another note, look at this adorable outfit I found for Laila!  I love it.  Now I know it has pink in it, but I've decided that I like Melon Mambo pinks, just not a lot of Pretty in Pink pinks. Plus, who can resist brown and pink together, especially when it involves a cute giraffe.  :)   It was nice to take a day off from worrying about something being wrong and just enjoy buying her some cute things.  Our big ultrasound is on Monday, so I hope that will be all good news and we can really start working on her room and relax a little about her being okay.  It is tough being pregnant after a loss like we had.  We are halfway there though and so far, so good.
