Today's Project: Mini-Clipboard

I had bookmarked these awesome little clipboards on Jen's blog ages ago and finally got all the supplies to make them this week.    I admit, I'm quickly becoming addicted to the non-card projects!   I was terrified to jump in and do them, but now I LOVE them!    I did my first one in one of my favorite colors, Tempting Turquoise!

Supplies:  4x4 chipboard coaster, post-it notes, binder clips, designer paper, punches, thread

Open House Pictures

Food, Display Poster, and Door Prize Jar

Chicks & Chocolate night, so of course we had to have lots of chocolate!   It is awesome to have an amazing friend who makes the best treats.   I did the chocolate chip cookies and brownies, and she put together the YUMMY cake balls and chocolate-covered strawberries.    If you are in the Houston area and like chocolate, you should totally contact her to get some of her creations.
Cake Balls, or Crack, whichever name you prefer.  :)
She sent me several messages yesterday that these weren't turning out.    I only wish my cards that didn't turn out looked that good!
All set up and ready for some people!
I did a progressive scrapbook page up to  8 1/2 by 11 as one of my demonstrations.    I then used this same stamp set and a color combo from the color coach (Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, and Rich Razzleberry) to make a birthday card.   I gave the card away, but still have this one.   My husband was able to take these pictures at the fireworks this year, so it's neat to have them made into a scrapbook page now!

It was a great night and I can't wait for my next event!

Non-card project of the week

I decided to make a few things to give away as door prizes at my open house next week and started out by making this great 3x3 card box using a tutorial I found on Splitcoast Stampers.  Cute, huh?    :)  It would be a perfect as a teacher's gift, so contact me if you'd like to make one to give to your child's new teacher!

I have to say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Watercolor Trio.

3x3 cards are some of my new favorite projects.  I think they are adorable and are great to attach to gifts!

Watercolor Trio!

One of the cards for my first class, Birthday Extravaganza!  I loved  Dawn's card and wanted to try it.  Dusty Durango and Crushed Curry are now retired, so I decided to substitute Tangerine Tango and Daffodil Delight because I actually own them!  :)

I LOVE this stamp set.  It is so perfect for both beginners and experienced stampers.  I am so glad I went ahead and got it.  It will be one of my favorites for years to come!

Loving the new Color Coach!

I found this cute card and thought it would be perfect for my first birthday card class.   I didn't have the exact colors that were used on the original, so I pulled out the Color Coach and found some that worked for what I did have.    It is great to have some guidance on what colors work well together because I hate sitting around trying to pair them up myself.   Thanks Stampin' Up! for the wonderful tools that make paper crafts so much easier!

Bad Blogger!

I just realized how long it has been since I posted.  I need to make a point to make something and post every day.   I'm writing it down, so I hope that will make me stick with it!

Yay for new stuff.   I was so excited to get my big box of goodies on Friday!   It was my first order as a demonstrator and it was great to get to order from the new catalog.
This pinwheel card was one of my projects from last week.   I think I ended up making 5 or 6 of them and I like them.   This uses some retired pumpkin pie designer paper.   If you want to make your own, check out this tutorial by Barb.
Love this new stamp set!  It definitely has a learning curve associated with it, but I have more fun every time I try to use it.   I have bookmarked so many ideas for it and am going to work on a few of them today.   This first one was inspired by Tessa's card here.  Fun!   I love the crumb cake card stock.  I'll try to post the recipe later.  I am anxious to get in my room and get creative!

Early Start for Fall

What a fun new set!  I am going to be teaching a card-making class at the local public library and I plan to center it around this set.   They asked for a fall theme and it just doesn't get any more fall than this!  I decided to do last week's clean&simple sketch and here's what I came up with.   I can't wait to work on more projects and ideas; I already have a spinner card in mind!

Sock Monkey!

I decided to try the sketch challenge on SCS this week and here's what I came up with.    I'm trying REALLY hard to be more creative myself and not always have to CASE other cards, so the sketch challenge seemed to be a good place to start.    It is a dreary, rainy day in Texas, so I needed some bright colors and a fun stamp set to cheer me up a bit!    Sock Monkey always makes me smile!

My other goal is to try/learn more about the tools and accessories I'll be selling as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.   I pulled out the blender pens and used them along with my ink pads to color in my image.   It was so easy and so much faster than using my colored pencils!    I will definitely be doing that on my line art images.

Recipe:
Ink: StazOn Jet Black (#101406), Tempting Turquoise (#100814), Chocolate Chip (#100908), Pretty in Pink (#101301)
Paper:  Tempting Turquoise (#102067)  (the designer paper and the green card stock are both retired)
Accessories:   Brights brads (#119740)
Tools:  Blender Pens (#102845), Modern Label Punch (#119849), Stamp-a-ma-jig (#101049)

On a different note, I got to place my first order yesterday and thanks to my awesome husband, I met my own quarterly minimums for this quarter!  Yay.  I think he is tired of hearing me whine about not having ribbon or markers...or stamps...or paper.   Well, you know how it is.  :)    I am so excited about getting my new stamp sets!
