Grumpy Bunny Birthday

Wednesday and time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Jen B is our sketch artist this time and I hope she doesn't mind I added a circle. :)   I wasn't sure what I wanted to make but then the Easter Bunny brought me some Brusho Watercolor Crystals!  I used them for my background and wow!  It was so easy the first time out of the box!  I added some Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana papers and the gumpy little bunny from the Taylored Expressions Grumplings and called it good.  Now I need to find a fellow grumpy person that can appreciate this card.  lol

I hope everyone had a great Easter!  We were up super early that day, but Laila had a blast digging in to her basket.  She got her own kitchen gadgets and I'm pretty sure they were her favorite.  We used them on Monday to make pancakes.  :)

Isn't she a doll?  :)   She had so much fun making a mess...and pancakes.  She wanted to make them again yesterday too!  I have a feeling we will be eating a lot of butterfly shaped pancakes for a while.

Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

I'm a bit behind on playing along with the Coffee Lovers for the Spring blog hop, but I'm sneaking in on the last day!   I had a little stamping time with a friend  yesterday and I took my new watercolors and some Copics over and made this card.  I am not really a pastel kind of gal, but they totally say Spring to me, so I used them.  :)   I added a little sequin flower embellishment to my cup because hey, what else says Spring like flowers?!

It's been quite a week.  We had some awful storms come through on Wednesday night and man!  They woke us up at 5am and made for a very long Thursday.  I think I could take the longest nap ever.  Today I need to clean a bit and go shopping for Easter dinner.  It's just the three of us, but we still like to make ham and all that goes with it.  It makes for a lot of leftovers, so less cooking for a few days.   I hope to color eggs with Laila today and start putting Easter baskets together.  I have no idea what I've bought at this point and I hope I can find all the stuff I hid around the house for them.  lol  If not, Christmas stocking stuffers they will be! Ha!

Freshly Made Peeps

I'm finally back with my Freshly Made Sketches sisters this week.   Those girls sure love me and don't kick me off the team when I stumble.  Cindy is the sketch hostess with the mostest this week and I'm hoping she finds my interpretation of it acceptable.  I had this idea and went with it, but then I wasn't sure it was close enough to the sketch.   It's all about inspiration though, right?  Yeah.  We're going with that!  lol

I just love these little Peeps from Simon Says Stamp.  They are just the most adorable things.  I didn't get my kit in time to make up a bunch of Easter cards, but there are a lot of sentiments in the stamp set that will work for all year.  Who doesn't love Peeps in say August?  lol

Now I'm gotta go get the eggs ready for Laila's Easter party tomorrow.  Fun!

The Greeting Farm Ponies

Laila has been into My Little Ponies a bit so I just had to get the cute Magical Friends set from The Greeting Farm.  I got lucky and they are having an animal challenge as their March Farm Fresh challenge, so I am totally entering!  Aren't they the cutest?!   I added in a little rainbow and clouds from Paper Smooches.  The background is lightly watercolored with some purple.

I'm still working on feeling more human.  I got some new Vitamin D and iron to try and my doctor referred me to get an endoscopy to make sure I don't have any bleeding that could be causing anemia.  That sounds a bit scary.  :/   Laila and I have gotten off track with our homeschool stuff, but we are doing it as we can and I feel like it.

She loved this scorpion spinner game.  lol   And below is her angry camel that she made this morning.

Peep Anniversary

So Easter is my favorite holiday.  That's probably weird for someone who isn't really religious, but I just love it.  I think it's spring, the cuteness of bunnies and chicks, and of course the CANDY.   Making baskets is my most favorite thing!  When I saw the card kit from Simon Says Stamp, I had to get it because PEEPS!!!!!!!!   Who doesn't love Peeps?!   Even if you don't eat them, you have to admit that they are adorable.  :)   I made this anniversary card for Jason using it and an older sketch from My Favorite Things card challenge.  I added a little package of Peeps with it too of course.  :)

Laila and I took newspapers to the animal shelter today because they were in desperate need of them and then we went to Michael's.  Paint was on sale, so I let her pick out some new colors.   She does love to paint when she's not collecting ladybugs or screaming, so it's a cheap investment in fun.  lol   We had a rough weekend.  Yesterday was our 12th anniversary and it was a pretty awful day.  Jason was angry all day, Laila was whining and screaming all day, and I went to hide in bed before I had an anxiety attack.  Some days I wonder how we are going to make it through whatever this is.  Sigh.  Lots of day I think I don't even want to.

Anyway, happy Pi day.  I hope you have a wonderful week!

Just a little update...

I just thought I'd check in.  If you are a regular follower, you've probably noticed that I haven't been posting much.  I don't know what's going on, but I just haven't been feeling like stamping much lately.  It's been a while since I had any time to recharge, so I'm feeling pretty worn down both mentally and physically.   Laila has been having a lot of problems at MDO and they are weighing so heavily on my mind.  I'm feeling a bit lost and a lot like a failure.  I did find some groups on Facebook about strong-willed children, so I at least know I'm not alone.   I keep trying to take her to things to expose her to people, kids, and experiences, but it's not easy by any means.  Being the mom with the difficult child at those events is not so fun.  But I go...

We have been working on doing some things at home to make it more structured here.  I don't have a real schedule yet because of all the above crap, but I hope to work on myself and a schedule over the coming weeks.  Here's a few pictures of the fun we've been having as we go through the month learning about deserts.  Our first week is focused on cowboys and the rodeo.

Last week we took a break and went to the Houston Livestock Show and then a NatureFest at a local park.  It was fun and a nice break for us all.  She was well behaved for the most part and had a blast.

I hope to work on some cards over the weekend, so fingers crossed that happens.  I got some fun new stamps I want to ink up, so maybe that will be the motivation I need.  Now I'm off to find some flashlights and candles as our storms are getting worse!

Feeling Blue?

It's Wednesday and time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  I'm the hostess this week and I have a pretty simple sketch.  I like the idea of simple ones that allow you to fill in with what inspires you.

I had a class over the weekend where we learned to make the watercolor backgrounds with a Stampin' Up!  Watercolor Wash background stamp and I loved how mine turned out.  I ended up using it for my card today so that I didn't lose it or spill something on it.  lol  I used Pool Party and Island Indigo, just tapped the pads on the stamp, and then sprayed it with water before I laid my paper on it.  I love the result.  Different amounts of ink and water give different results, so it's fun to play and see what you end up with!  I added some die cut flowers and leaves from my favorite Ellen Hutson dies that had been accented with Wink of Stella.  The sentiment is from a set from The Greeting Farm called Wood Friends

My little cowgirl.  We are starting a little homeschool curriculum and our first week is about cowboys/rodeos/deserts.   :)
